Born
and raised in Ohio, Marilyn Sadler and
her husband, Stan, moved to Kentucky in 1995,
and now reside in Versailles. Marilyn has been
a member of Lexington Art League since 1996. Along
with art studies at Ohio State University and
continuing art workshops, she uses her knowledge
of horses - a result of years of hands-on experience
which includes owning, breeding and training Thoroughbred
race horses - to specialize in commissioned animal
portraits.
Commissions
include the portraits of several winners of the Ohio and West
Virginia
Derbys, as well as Kentucky Derby winner Real Quiet. In addition, a portrait of
former governor Richard Celeste was commissioned and presented to him by the Ohio
Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association as a gesture of appreciation
for his support of the Ohio horsemen.
Marilyn's
work has been displayed and sold at the Kentucky
Horse Park and Collectors' Gallery in Lexington,
and has appeared in the The Horsemen's Journal,
several times in the Ohio Thoroughbred, and on
the cover of the OTBO Sales Catalog.
